About this tool
This words to pages converter answers the question every student and writer has the night before a deadline: how many pages is this going to be? Type your word count, pick the font, size and line spacing your brief asks for, and it works out the page count straight away. The standard case is Times New Roman 12 pt, double spaced, on US Letter pages with one inch margins, which fits about 250 words a page. So 1000 words to pages comes to 4 pages, 1500 words is 6 pages, and 5000 words runs to 20 pages. Switch to single spacing and the same page holds around 500 words, which halves everything. The font matters more than people expect: Arial and Verdana run wider than Times New Roman, while Calibri fits more on the line, so the same essay can gain or lose a page just from the font menu. You can also paste your draft into the text box and the word count fills itself, which makes it a quick word counter as well. The table underneath shows the common word counts (250, 500, 750, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, 5000 and 10000 words) converted to pages at your current settings, so you can see the whole scale at once. Nothing you paste leaves your browser.
How to use
Enter your word count, or paste your text and let the tool count the words. Choose the font your assignment asks for, then the size and the line spacing: single, 1.5 or double. The page count updates as you change anything. Use the table below the result to check other lengths at the same settings, which is handy when a brief gives a range rather than a number. Remember that headings, block quotes, tables, figures and a reference list all change the real page count, and margins other than one inch will shift it too.
